Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) is the leading preventable cause of brain damage, developmental disabilities, birth defects, and a major contributor to learning disabilities and behavioral problems in children. Approximately 120 babies are born each year with FASD in Alaska, creating a direct negative impact on the youth living in rural Alaska. The Alsworth Foundation will work with communities to educate, make aware, and work toward the overall elimination of this disorder in the State of Alaska.
